What if my pickup date falls on a holiday?
If your pickup day falls on a major holiday, your pickup may be delayed. We’ll post any schedule changes on our Facebook page and website ahead of time.
How do I start trash service in Independence?
Independence residents sign up and are billed through the city. Contact Independence City Hall to get started. Kluesner Sanitation handles your actual pickup once you’re enrolled.
What size cart do I get?
Tote sizes offered: 45, 65, and 95 gallons.
Do I need to bag my trash before putting it in the cart?
Yes. All trash must be placed in garbage bags before going into your cart. This keeps loose debris from spilling during collection.
What if my trash or recycling gets missed?
Call our main office at 866-525-4506 during normal business hours. If the miss was our fault, we’ll be back to collect it. Missed pickups are collected on Wednesday.

Where should I put my cart on pickup day?
Place your trash and recycling carts at the curb line by 6:00 AM on Tuesday. Please keep your carts at least 3 feet apart. Our trucks use an automated side-arm, so make sure there’s enough clearance on both sides of the cart.
Do you pick up appliances in Independence?
