What if my pickup date falls on a holiday?
If your pickup day falls on a major holiday, your pickup may be delayed. We’ll post any schedule changes on our Facebook page and website ahead of time.
How do I start trash service in Delaware?
Delaware residents sign up and are billed through the city. Contact Delaware City Hall to get started. Kluesner Sanitation handles your actual pickup once you’re enrolled.
What size cart do I get?
One 33-gallon can or bag, up to 40 lbs, per pickup.
Do I need to bag my trash before putting it in the cart?
Yes. All trash must be placed in garbage bags before going into your cart. This keeps loose debris from spilling during collection.
What if my trash or recycling gets missed?
Call our main office at 866-525-4506 during normal business hours. If the miss was our fault, we’ll be back to collect it. Missed trash is collected on Wednesday and missed recycling on Tuesday.
How can I reach Kluesner Sanitation?

Where should I put my cart on pickup day?
Place your trash and recycling carts at the curb line by 6:00 AM on Monday. Please keep your carts at least 3 feet apart. Our trucks use an automated side-arm, so make sure there’s enough clearance on both sides of the cart.
Do you pick up appliances in Delaware?
Appliances are handled as bulk items. Call our office at 866-525-4506 to schedule your bulk item pickup. Confirm: the cheat sheet lists a per-item charge but no procedure.
